On August 11, 2008 Teresa Bolls and Garba from World
Vision met and discussed the possibility of doing
something in the Ouallam area on AIDS awareness &
prevention.
After much thought and prayer Teresa met with Adamou,
the Director of Ouallam's Ministry of Plan on 11 August.
Teresa and Adamou had already discussed the possibility
of visiting several villages together and for Teresa
to teach the Health classes that she taught during
the "Latrine Project". Adamou suggested
that Teresa use the same type charts that she
uses in her health classes. Teresa also was able to
get permission from SIL (Wycliffe) to shorten their
AIDS booklet to make it more usable for those that
don't read and need more pictures. This was shortened
and sent to the publishing house.
Because this was an extra project, there was no funding
requested in advance as well as there being no request
for help in producing the charts. But because of the
prayers of many hundreds of people - three women from
North Carolina arrived the afternoon of Monday 8 September.
They began to work on the charts putting in late hours,
some even past midnight.
Even
though the "Team" stopped a few times to
eat and even to go around town to do some visiting
and prayer walking - by Wednesday 10 September the
charts were completed and Teresa was able to use them
in the Ouallam Church.

A Miracle??? - Yes! A MIRACLE. We have an awesome prayer
support team and we thank you all so much. Much thanks
to the North Carolina team of 12 for loaning us the
three women that God had specifically chosen for this
job. Teresa working with the Director of Plan and the
Mayor the plans are to take the classes to the 280 Administrative
Villages with the radio and other means of spreading
the word. Plans are for the remaining villages (1228
total) to walk to the closest administrative villages
to hear the presentation. As Adamou told Teresa over
a year ago - "it is time for these people to hear
the truth" Pray for us as we carry out the "truth".
2009
the program continues. Teresa has full support from
the local leadership including the Mayor, the Prefet,
the Chiefs de Canton (traditional Kings), World Vision
and the Zerma Team. Even with the changing of the new
Prefet and some security issues the support continues.
Teresa was called in to the new Prefet's office and
after much discussion asked the Prefet if she could
pray for him as she has done for the other "leaders".
Permission was granted as well and a good relationship
is developing.
Teresa
and Don have been able to take the AIDS/Health classes
to 29 villages as of the end of February 2009. We praise
the Lord for this new program that is getting us to
new villages. Though we may not make all 1228 villages,
we will go to as many as the Lord shows us. Prayer has
opened many doors and we are thankful for our prayer
support and our Lord that is showing us where and when
to go - as well as supplying various volunteers that
have been able to go with us to several villages helping
set up and praying as the class is presented. |
