A
water well being dug in the village of Bonchitou.
Request for the well originated from the village,
where we have a church, to Mark Ledlow and I'm helping.
Work began in April and should be finished in May
or June, about when our rainy season begins.
It
is hoped the well will provide a source of water
for year round gardening to provide more food and
income for the small village. In the future we hope
to establish an irrigation plan for extensive gardening
and that they will also grow peppers for the 'Niger
Pepper'project.
We
would ask prayer that a good permanent water source
be found, that no one is hurt during the digging
with cement ring construction, and that it provide
a positive witness for this village and surrounding
villages. We are already past the depth we expected
and have hit rock which will add to the cost of
the well and also extra time. Well digging to far
into rainy season is not ideal plus workers will
need to be planting their fields, especially
after an evident bad harvest last year.
